Steve Smith

Steve – Co-founder of BrightPoint for Children – simply has a heart for children in need. Blessed with the experience of visiting numerous third-world countries, he has first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by impoverished children. Steve’s passion and desire to help – along with his extensive business experience – has led him to develop BrightPoint as a strategic, purpose-driven organization that will transform not only impoverished children, but also their sponsors.

Steve, his wife Julie, and their two daughters live in Marietta, Georgia. You can find Steve any Fall Saturday wherever the Georgia Bulldogs are playing!


Justin Brasuell

Justin – Co-founder and President of BrightPoint for Children - started participating in mission work in 2002. After spending time in Central America and Africa, he felt called to start an organization that would allow short-term missionaries to assist the children that have impacted their lives. This desire led to the creation of BrightPoint which is designed to be the conduit for groups of individuals to make a difference in the lives of children in impoverished communities around the world.

Justin became the Executive Director for BrightPoint in 2014. Prior to BrightPoint, Justin worked as a technology consultant for the global consulting firm, Accenture for 19 years. While at Accenture, Justin specialized in applying technology to solve business problems and implement software solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Justin graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Accounting.

Justin continues to be involved in missions in Central America, Africa and Europe through the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia. He resides in Marietta with his wife Dianne, and they have three grown children. Although he loves living in Georgia, he’s a diehard Texas A&M Aggie!


Kurt Kandler

Kurt is the Executive Director of The 410 Bridge, a community development agency committed to Christ-centered, community-initiated development. Kurt is responsible for worldwide operations of The 410 Bridge; working in 36+ communities in East Africa and Haiti, directly and indirectly impacting an estimated 350,000 people. Kurt is a strong advocate of indigenously led development that places the local church at the forefront of the work. Partnering with 80+ US churches, he is equally committed to mobilizing and unifying the US church to embrace a “mile deep and an inch wide” paradigm of missions.

Kurt lives in Milton, Georgia with his wife, Erika. They have three children – Michael, McKenna and David.


Ryne Van Gorp

Ryne Van Gorp is the CFO, North America for Euramax. Before joining Euramax, Ryne was the CFO of Aclara in St. Louis and is the Principal with East Hampton Properties, LLC. He also has held Strategy, General Management, Marketing, and Operation roles for multi-location and global businesses.

Ryne has been involved in missions in Central America with Mt. Bethel UMC and currently lives in North Atlanta with his wife Nan. They attend Woodstock City Church.

He currently serves as Board Director of M.U.S.T. Ministries as well as Brightpoint for Children.
