BrightPoint for Children

Located at the base of the Aberdare Mountain range, Kwambekenya became home to families displaced by the government. This close-knit community has a spirit and vision for transformation, and a desire for quality education. Unfortunately, only 25 percent of their Primary School students pass the national test needed to attend Secondary School. And only 10 percent of those who pass the test can afford to go to Secondary School.

BrightPoint implemented a program in 2007 that supported Primary School classrooms, but we have learned that sponsors prefer a child to relate to and support.

Kiambariki still needs assistance to raise the quality of education for the children. Desks and textbooks have been purchased for all the children, so students can now take books home to do homework. But there are many supplies needed for the Classrooms such as maps, books, chalk and paper. With sponsorship they can afford to give assessment tests on a regular basis, so many children are doing better on their Grade 8 Final National Exam, which determines if they can continue into High School.

In this program for only $39/month, you sponsor and write to a Star Student, and your money goes to improving the quality of eduction for all 900 students at Kiambariki Primary.
