Dominican Republic - FLYN

Sponsor a Child
Foundation Love Your Neighbor (FLYN), which is Fundación Amor al Prójimo in the Dominican Republic, is a non-profit ministry that was established to provide support for the orphans/vulnerable children of Laguna Guaricanos. Laguna Guaricanos is a village outside of Santo Domingo which has a large population of Haitian/Dominican mixed people. They are considered to be lower class citizens because of their mix of ethnicity and as a result there are countless orphans and vulnerable children in very serious need.

Ramon Soto and his wife Violeta are the directors and the head of children’s education, they have the children come to their “home school” three days a week to learn to read, write, study the Bible, computer programs and about self respect as a citizen and child of God. They actively work with groups of 25 children at a time, while also incorporating young adults and adults-providing education and Biblical studies opportunities for them as well.

Their lives are investing in the children that fill their village. Some have lost both parents, some only one, but all of them are “put out during the day” due to no resources to provide for them. They then return "home" at night for a place to stay.

Ramon was an orphan as a child and being Haitian/Dominican himself, understands the plight of these children. He was able to get an education (knowing 4 languages himself), and he teaches at the university, and is able to provide a better life from where he started. He felt that God was calling him to return to the children in need in Laguna Guaricanos to help educate and provide the same opportunity for them to have a better life also. He has dedicated his life to doing that and finding other adults in the village who want to participate in this positive opportunity.

FLYN/FAP was established to provide consistent funding for Ramon and his staff as they are working with the orphans/vulnerable children in Laguna Guaricanos. By sponsoring a child in FLYN/FAP, you will be providing money for the children to be fed one meal a day, be given a Bible, and the school supplies they need, and most importantly hope and help from a life in total poverty. This is our vision for the ministry to the children there: Loving and providing for the needs of orphans, while sharing the love of Christ. Matt 22:39 “Love your neighbor as yourself”
