KARIMA

Karima is a close neighbor to the Kwambekenya community where we also work, and its name is a Kikuyu name meaning "small hill". It is bordered by two rivers but one of their greatest needs is water, as they are dependent upon agriculture as the main source of income.

Education is also a major need here. Like many Kenyan communities, Karima has an abundance of youth, who they recognize will be the future of their community. The primary school is overcrowded with more than 1,000 students, and is in need of additional classrooms and teachers. This makes learning difficult, thus preventing many children from advancing to secondary school.

There are a few special needs children in the community that have been identifified by the Karima Leadership Council, and they have requested that these children be sponsored for a private boarding school. Your sponsorship of these children will help them succeed where at this time they have no hope.

Along with the youth, there are a large number of widows and single mothers struggling to provide for their children and grandchildren. They find it impossible to send their children to secondary (high) school.
